How Should Crocs Fit?

Crocs is an American shoe manufacturing company that is based in Bloomfield. Although established in 2002, the brand did not rise to prominence until 2017 when its footwear became the most popular thing amongst middle and high school students.

The shoes made by this brand are lightweight and light-hearted, and they have extended their products beyond the shores of America to other countries and continents. Wherever you may be in the world, you surely must have come across one of this footwear from Crocs.

If you will be getting Crocs footwear, it is important that you know how they fit. Do you need to stay true to size or should you order a size up or down? Let us find out!

So, how should Crocs really fit?

Comfy and casual are the two words people normally associate with Crocs footwear. But that does not say anything about its sizing or fitting, does it?

There are instances where a shoe can be your size but may not fit exactly well.

To know when Crocs fits well, regardless of whether it is your size or not, you need to take a look at three (3) things;

  1. The heel of your foot should rest in place and the Crocs should not be riding up and down.
  2. The sides and the arch of your Crocs should be hugging your feet.
  3. Lastly, your toes should not be touching the front. Make sure you have some room to wiggle your toes.

Ideally, a shoe that is your size should also fit perfectly well because the sizing is first considered before placing an order (online buying) or trying them on (physical buying).

For sizing, you do not have much worry as most Crocs shoes stay true to size. Although, there are some that run a bit big.

Models like the Crocs Classic Clog (on Amazon) stay true to size and have no sizing problem whatsoever. They were specifically designed to provide better comfort and accommodative fit. If you are going for one of these, then you should order for your regular size so you can have a perfect fit.

On the other hand, models like the Crocs Bistro Clog (see on Amazon) have a different case. This model, unlike almost every model of the Crocs brand, was developed with a different kind of design.

It has a closed top and toe and runs slightly larger when compared to other models. People with large and wide feet would find this model perfect because of the extra room it has.

What to do to ensure perfect crocs fit?

Like every other footwear, it is important that your Crocs shoes fit well. What can you do to make sure you do not end up with an ill-fitted Crocs shoe?

  • Know your actual size
  • Order your regular Crocs size
  • Your heel should rest comfortably
  • The shoe should hug your feet
  • Make sure that your toes have enough room in your Crocs

Know your actual feet size

The very first step required to avoid getting an ill-fitted Crocs shoe is to know the actual size of your feet. A lot of times, people order for the wrong size of Crocs shoes because they do not know the correct size of their feet.

Walk into a shoe store and have the measurement of your feet done. After knowing the size of your feet, check the sizing chart for Crocs shoes and the one for your country so you will know the actual size of Crocs shoes to order.

Order your regular size

If you want to reduce your chances of buying a Crocs shoe that does not fit well, then it is best that your buy the one that is your exact size. Most of the Crocs models stay true to size so the probability that you will get a small or big one is close to zero

There is no way a Crocs that is not your size will fit you. Instead, it will be uncomfortable to your feet and general well-being.

Your heel should rest comfortably

To have a Crocs shoe that fits well, your heels must be lying securely in them. Make sure that you do not feel any discomfort in your heel when you wear them. In addition, the shoes should not be riding up and down.

There must be a secured grip between the heel of your foot and the Crocs shoe.

The shoe should hug your feet

A shoe cannot be said to be fit if it is too loose and does not feel snug on your feet. Make sure that the Crocs shoe you are wearing has its top, side, and arch area hugging your feet.

Make sure there is enough room for your toes

A crocs shoe that fits perfectly will give your toes enough room to wiggle. If your toes are touching the front then the Crocs shoe does not fit well enough and is not good for you.

Getting a perfect fit for your Crocs is not a difficult task. Be rest assured that if you follow these 5 steps to the letter, you will not have to deal with a badly fitted Crocs shoe.

Fig 2.0: Crocs Sizing Chart for Women

Table 2.0 above is the sizing chart for women’s Crocs shoes. It contains the different sizes used in five (5) geographical areas; the UK, US, Europe, Japan, and Korea.

The default sizing used by Crocs is the US method, and under every Crocs shoe, you will find the size written as ‘M12’ or ‘W10’. The letters ‘M’ and ‘W’ are used to indicate which gender the shoe was made for.

Therefore, ‘M12’ means the Crocs shoe was made for a man wearing sizing 12, while ‘W10’ means the Crocs shoe was made for a woman wearing size 10.

Should your toes touch the end of Crocs?

Finding the right fit for a Crocs shoe can be a bit tricky because, unlike other shoes that you can have all parts of the shoes hugging your feet, Crocs shoes were designed to fit loosely.

So, no, your feet should not touch the end of your Crocs. In an ideal situation, you should have about 1/4 and 1/2 inches of extra space in front of your toes and at the back of your heel.

If you feel your toes touching the front of your Crocs then it is best that you go for a size higher.

When getting a Crocs shoe, know that your foot is not supposed to touch any area of the shoe except the footbed and maybe the strap, if you use it.

There have been a few complaints that the strap pushes the foot further in, thereby making the toes touch the front. In this case, you should stop using the strap or you go for a Crocs shoe that has more room in the front.

Having enough wiggle room at the front of your shoes should not be overlooked as it can be the difference between the shoe being comfortable or not. In addition to that, the extra space to be left helps to protect your feet from impact.

Should I size up or down Crocs if I am a half?

In many cases, people who wear half sizes of shoes find it difficult to get the exact size of the shoe. This means that they either go for a size lower or higher and they, most of the time, end up not getting the right fit.

It is quite sad that Crocs shoes do not come in half sizes. So, if you are a half size, it is recommended that you go for a size higher.

For example, if your shoe size is 91/2 you will need to order a size 10 Crocs shoe.

Many people who have tried buying a size down have complained that the Crocs shoes were tight on their feet, and that can cause painful blisters to form.

Another reason you should size up if you are half size is because of the extra room your feet would get.

Normally, Crocs shoes are supposed to be loosely fit, so ordering a size up ensures that the shoe will be loose. Also, you would not have to worry about the width of your feet, because going a size higher automatically gives you a bigger shoe with extra room for your feet.

Half-sized? No problem, just order a size up and you are fine.

How do you know the size of Crocs to get?

One of the unique selling points of the Crocs brand is the sizing. In most cases, Crocs shoes stay true to size. The fact that Crocs shoes are able to stay true to size makes buying one of the shoes easy because you do not have to worry about what size to get.

In very simple terms, to know the right size of Crocs to get, you just need to know the size of your feet. So long as you have the accurate measurement of your feet and the sizing it falls under, you can just go ahead and order for the exact same size because Crocs shoes stay true to size.

Knowing the correct size of Crocs shoes to order just requires you to take two steps; Measure your feet, and refer to the Crocs sizing chart provided above to know what size it falls under.

The measurement of your feet is the first thing to do as it will provide you the information to look out for in the Crocs sizing chart.

Your feet can be measured in two standards; inches or millimeters.  For instance, a foot that measures 10.27 inches would be 263 when measured in millimeters.

After knowing the measurement of your feet, you now need to know the size it falls under. To do this, check the Crocs sizing chart provided above and look for where 10.27 inches or 263mm are written and trace it to the left where the sizes are written per country.

With the information we have in this example, we can see that a foot that measures 263mm is a size 9 (following the US sizing method and assuming the foot measured is that of a man).

It is best to use the US sizing method when determining the size of your feet because that is the sizing that Crocs uses.

Crocs Roomy fit vs Relaxed fit. Which is better and why?

There are three (3) types of fit in the Crocs brand of shoes; roomy fit, relaxed fit, and standard fit. All types of Crocs shoes must come in any of these fits.

Out of these three (3) fits, the roomy fit and the relaxed fit are the most popular. Most of the Crocs shoes come in either of these two, and there has been a lot of debate on which of them is better.

The Crocs roomy fit is the main style of the Crocs brand. They set out to make shoes that have a large room to accommodate your feet, so this fit is the original Crocs style.

Of all three fits, the roomy fit is the widest. You do not have to worry about your feet touching the sides, top or front.

This fit style is generous in length and has enough room for breathability. Some Crocs shoes with this fit come with straps to provide stability as you walk.

The Crocs relaxed fit is the better of the two. This is because the relaxed fit is not as wide as the roomy fit so it provides a snug feeling. It does not have as much room as the roomy fit but it is a more secured fit.

It has a little room around the side of the foot and this means that your foot may be touching the sidewalls of the Crocs.

It is more secured and feels more relaxed around the top of your foot. Just like the roomy fit, the relaxed fit also has enough wiggle room for your toes.

Both types of fit have their merits and demerits but it all boils down to the type of feet you have. People with wide feet would have a better experience wearing the roomy fit because of the space and extra room it has while people with slim feet might feel the roomy fit is too large and oversized.

In the same vein, people with wide feet might feel the relaxed fit is tight because it is not as wide as the roomy fit and the sidewalls would be brushing on the foot.
